Current Conditions: Lake level is high
Fishing is Good: Guide Joe Garza www.jagflyfishing.com reported Lake Almanor is fishing well currently. "The morning bite is still going strong, Chironomids and leeches have been the main producers. The Hex Hatch is starting to pop and the fish are starting to activly seek a bigger meal in the way of Hex nymphs. The south end of the lake is starting to show signs of life for the surface eaters. Best producers will be a Hex emerger trailed by a Gray's Stillborn."
He also said "We have also had some good dry fly action in the morning recently with #16 sparkle caddis or #14 parachute adams and the rainbows, browns, and smallies are super healthy this year, I'm talking footballs! With the Hex season 3 weeks away, we are already picking up fish on Hex patterns subsurface. Stillwater season is in full swing."
Nymphs: Midge patterns, Callibaetis
Streamers: Hex nymphs, pond smelt, Balanced leeches
Dries: Spotlight Caddis emerger
